The Jokes On… Someone: Writing Prompt #317

As a kid, I remember spending inordinate amounts of time planning the perfect April Fool’s joke. But I could never quite come up with something appropriate. I’ve noticed in most stories I read (maybe because of their dark nature), there aren’t many jokes played on other people.

So for today’s prompt, have your character either be the victim of someone’s practical joke, or have them play a practical joke on another person. Do they do it for April Fool’s Day? Just because? To lighten the mood at a grim moment in the story? How would that come across?
