Writing Prompt #146

Two people I follow on twitter are talking about fearmongering. I believe many people live in irrational fear of events that won’t likely occur. For whatever reason, the media often fosters this fear–oh right, blood, horror and fear sell. And maybe humans are predisposed to fear things. In the dark past of living in caves, fear kept us alive.

So for today’s prompt, think about your characters fears. Do they fear something that makes no sense? Do they have a fear of an event that won’t likely occur? How does that fear affect how they behave? Do they avoid certain activities as a result?

  1. I always find characters with big secrets quiet interesting… They fear that their secrets will be out and they will go to extreme measures and almost do anything to protect their secrets. And I usually find my self pretty on edge with them, fearing that someone is going to find out soon… Always fun to read such stories- and fun to write as well! 🙂

    • Yes, secrets are great too. Anything that gives a character depth helps.
