Writing Prompt Day Three

For today’s prompt I thought I’d use something that wound up not fitting in a WIP. Interesting idea that could spawn more:

She slid into the water, liquid grace and beauty. The water turned oily where she moved over it, little ripples of disturbance starting around the edges. As she swam deeper, the whirlpool increased.

  1. Short for today. I started something, but went to dinner and a movie to help my son celebrate his birthday. Here is the beginning of today. Tomorrow the writing prompt may be a continuation or I might finish this and do a new one.

Three days in I still saw no sign of him. Sitting by the water’s edge I skipped pebbles into the water, hoping to arouse him, knowing it wouldn’t work. Persephone had claimed him for herself and there wasn’t much I could do about it. I remembered her body, as she slid into the water, liquid grace and beauty. The water had turned oily where she moved over it, little ripples of disturbance starting around the edges. As she swam deeper, the whirlpool increased, taking Brandon with her.

“Evie,” he’d said. “You have to trust me. This is the only way you will ever be free of her.”

“What makes you think that,” I’d asked, staring deep into his obsidian eyes. I couldn’t discern anything in their fathomless depths. Crabs scuttled over our feet.
