Banned Book Week

Banned books. The thought gives me shivers. I know it happens, but it is so appalling. Parents spend no time raising their own kids, teaching them how to think for themselves, and instead raise a stink over books like Brave New World and Catcher in the Rye.

I read the list of 100 most banned books, and noticed many were on my required reading list when I was in school. Wow, what has become of our society if we ban books such as these? So this week, exercise your right to think for yourself. Read a book.

  1. Wow, both of the books you mentioned I had to read in high school too. I didn’t care for either of those though…especially Brave New World. But that’s just my individual taste.

  2. I haven’t read either book. I started Brave New World recently, but only got a few chapters in before I got swept away doing other things (like revisions on my WIP).
