Frustration

I’m re-writing another section of my NaNo, and it is frustrating. One of my characters needs to leave with another one. The way I initially set it up isn’t in character with how she would act. So I re-wrote it. Now it works in context with the one scene, but won’t work with the next one. I changed things so another character goes over to have the same conversation, but it destroys the next scene (and more besides). Now I’m trying to brainstorm alternate ideas to get where I need to go. It is interesting how important details stand out during the re-writing process. There are sections I can take out without destroying later ideas or story lines, others would collapse everything. Hopefully I can always identify the difference.
